LES CHOUETTES Marais

One of the luxury of traveling, is meeting people around the world. Some of them just stay in your life for a short period of time, others remain forever and become close friends. Raissa, an authentic African beauty living in Pari, is one of those that remain forever. She is just pure magic. After our Michelin star experience last time in Paris, we went to LES CHOUETTES in the Marais district.

With an elegant interior by the Spanish design firm Lázaro Rosa Violán, the three-story restaurant and cocktail bar feels like a modern rendition of the Parisian art deco lounge.

From the ground-floor restaurant situated beneath a glass ceiling, a staircase leads to the second  dotted with leather armchairs, iron globes, and an impressive little library collection.

We got surprised by the food. It was delicious, so tasty and the presentation was stunning like pieces of art. Food is an art. The way that chefs show their feelings.

We decided to go for a starter, two main courses (fish and meat) and two desserts. Of course, two wine glasses to cheers, white wine for the fish and red wine for the meat.

  • Crispy soft boiled egg, mushrooms & French siphon “Brie de Meaux”
  • Shoulder lamb in this juice, Jerusalem artichokes & rutabaga.
  • Roasted turbo with ginger and lime, carrot & celery.
  • White chocolate, lemon and Italian meringue.
  • Around the exotic and chocolate.

I arrived a bit early and decided to check a bit the chic area and just next door it was taking place an art exhibition from Olivier Lille called JFK . A Curious fact, is that the artist, travel to cities just for 24h or 48h (in the case of Asia) to capture moments that catch his attention. Then he made his art work with pieces of each photography to represent the emotions and feelings he felt in that particular moment.

I had the real honor to meet the artist and enjoy a master class with him. We had an emotional chat about traveling and life itself. At the end, I was in Paris for 24 hours before heading to Bali and told him how incredible is to be able to be in completely different countries in a time difference of 24h. The exhibiton album it’s a sweet candy for travel lovers, full of travel details.
